Want to know how Pass Protection works? We’ve got you covered. Here are some important details about how reimbursement following an approved claim works.
A few things to keep in mind: Most importantly, this is based on an approved claim. It is also required that you notify Spot within 20 days of the covered event. Be sure to review your specific policy for more details.
Season Passes:
Here are some important dates and terms to keep in mind when it comes to Pass Protection for your Pass
Cancelation for Season Passes
If a covered event occurs between the day after you purchase Pass Protection but prior to December 14, 2023, it is considered within the Cancelation period. This means you’re eligible for a 100% reimbursement of your Pass purchase price if your claim is approved.
Interruption for Season Passes
If the covered event occurs after December 14, 2023, the reimbursement amount prorates daily from December 14, 2023 through May 30, 2024. This is considered the Interruption period.
Here’s an example:
You purchase a Season Pass on March 16, 2023 and add Pass Protection. Then a covered event occurs on January 15, 2024, and you file a claim. In this specific situation, the event occurred 25% through the interruption window, so you’d be eligible for a 75% reimbursement of the Season Pass purchase price.
Daily Passes:
Cancelation and Interruption for Daily Passes is event-driven. We break that down here:
Cancelation for Daily Passes
If a covered event occurs between the day after you purchase Pass Protection but prior to using your pass, you’re within the Cancelation period. This means you’re eligible for 100% reimbursement of the purchase price of the pass!
Interruption for Season Passes
If a covered event occurs between the first time you use your Daily Pass and the last time you use your pass (and you purchased Pass Protection), the event falls within the Interruption period. In this case, you’d be eligible for a prorated reimbursement amount based on the remaining days tied to your specific pass.
Here’s an example:
You purchase a 4-day Pass and add Pass Protection, because you know that means Spot has you covered in case something unexpected changes your plans. You make it to the mountain and spend two awesome days skiing with your Pass. Then a covered event occurs and you have to file a claim. Bummer. Since you only used 2 out of the 4 days tied to your Pass, you’re eligible for a 50% reimbursement of the Pass purchase price!
