What is Pass Protection?
Sure, ski trips are fun, but planning them can be stressful. Spot is excited to give you one less thing to worry about when planning your next ski trip– Spot Pass Protection. This awesome new insurance provides reimbursement for your prepaid pass and other associated and nonrefundable costs, like prepaid lift tickets, in the event that you won’t be able to use your pass for the season due to unforeseen events like injury, sickness, and more.
When can I purchase Pass Protection?
We’ve got two answers for you here! You can add Pass Protection as a post-purchase add-on up until October 31, 2023. This means if you’ve already purchased your Pass, you have until October 31 to add Spot’s Pass Protection and be covered. After October 31, 2023, Spot’s Pass Protection coverage can only be purchased at the time of Pass purchase and cannot be added on at a later time.
How do I know if I have Spot Pass Protection coverage?
When you purchase a Pass, there is an optional “Pass Protection” add-on that you may select. If you opted to add “Pass Protection,” then you have coverage. Questions about your policy? Feel free to chat with us on our site or reach out to spot@getspot.com!

Why was my pass canceled?
By filing a claim, you are informing us that you are no longer able to use your pass for the season and would like to be refunded the cost of the pass and lift tickets. If your pass is used after your claim is submitted, your claim will be denied.
When your Spot Pass Protection claim is submitted and approved, your pass will be canceled. Once you have been refunded the costs of your pass or lift tickets, you will no longer be able to use them.
How can I speed up the review process for my claim?
Each claim is reviewed as quickly as possible, but there are some things you can do to make sure things go smoothly. For starters, when you login to your account to notify Spot of your intent to file a claim, answer the questions as thoroughly as possible. The more information you can provide, the less back and forth will be needed for the claims team to get answers. Also, make sure you have all the supporting documents you need ready to upload when you submit your claims form. Once the claims team has your claims form and supporting documents, they can get started!
Can Spot’s Pass Protection help me with my injury?
Unfortunately, no. Spot is not health insurance! In the event of an injury which prohibits you from using your Pass for the season, Spot can help you get reimbursed for the prepaid and nonrefundable costs of the Pass and lift tickets if you chose to add Spot Pass Protection at checkout. Now here’s where it gets a bit tricky: Spot also offers injury insurance. If you are a Spot injury insurance policy holder, then that plan may be able to cover some costs of your injury. Can I cancel my Spot Pass Protection?
If you’re not satisfied for any reason, you can cancel this insurance within ten days from the date of purchase by calling the Alterra Contact Center. We’ll refund the insurance premium, provided there are no incurred losses, you haven’t used your pass, or filed a claim.
